Ummm... yeah... I've been thinking about becoming a challenge taker, and I was considering downloading an emulator... the only thing is, I don't know that much about them. I need to know a few things, and the first question is: Is it possible to download current progress on a game I already have to an emulator?

Ok, so you know you can make AVIs with most popular emulators? Good. And yes, it is possible to download progress, although I would find easier to just hack/shark to unlock everything you need for your challenges. That's what I did with BN 2 and 6 If you're planning on becomming a DKC/Mario/Sonic CT, do you honnestly think you'd need a full file for those?
Either, I wish I knew good websites for save files. I know plenty for actual roms (which I cannot give you for obvious reasons) But I know like, ONE save file website, or at least I used to.

How do you use save files? I've got a couple for MMBN5DTDS(longest title for a megaman game...) but I have no idea how to use them.
Oh, for an emulator, there are two main choices: *No$GBA is for DS and GBA games. It has a built in solar sensor that is useful for Boktai games. Downside? I don't think save states will work for this one. Quality is actually better on this emulator for GBA games. There are bugs in DS game graphics.
*VBA is the one for GBC and GBA games. It has savestates and a built in video cam.(look at tools menu). Space button is a speed up button. Graphics are flawless, and that's all there is to it.
Both emulators have a cheat engine installed. VBA's is more advanced and No$GBA has Action Replay, Gameshark(1.0), and Codebreaker... depending on which game your playing. If you want roms... look at *censored for obvious reasons found at the rule area*

So is there a way to download progress from my gamboy game to...say...vba? From a physical cartridge, you mean? Yes, but the tool required is rather rare and costs somewhere around $50-$60 on eBay.

Crap. Is there any other way to upload vids without an emulator AND without looking like you're a total noob? A video capture card comes to mind, as long as you have the actual game and some sort of way to play it on a television, whether it be a Super Game Boy, Game Boy Player, or simply the related console. Those cards can be picked up for around $20-$40, depending on the type of computer it will be added to.

Uhh...so can I mod the screen to show just the game I'm playing? If you are talking about removing the border that the Super Game Boy and Game Boy Player leave, then yes.

Uh...another question. Is there a limit to how many games I can play on an emulator? (obviously not all at the same time)

Well, I use a No$GBA for DS and GBA. If you're not gonna get a DS ROM, get VBA.

I use Visual Boy Advance, but whenever I record, the sound always de-syncs unless you set it to just the right settings or use a sound sync program.
