Well, I read the article and can delve a little further in the info. The virus is named "conficker" the article states about what Sophos thinks the virus can do... Blah, blah, blah... Anyway the important stuff is that Microsoft has put a £175,000 bounty on the creator of conficker. Sophos thinks the virus has a trigger to activate on April fools day and computers that do not gain an update protecting from conficker can be in deep doodoo. I already have an objection!. Unfortunately, I also have a counter-argument.... Here's the website Klavier mentioned: www.thehermitage-lc.net I wouldn't try clicking it however... The webpage is linked heavily to the school and may attempt to spread conficker to your computer. Conficker was first unleashed in November 2008, then in december 2008, for two seperate strains. Now it's third strain with the detonator program on it is infecting computer since the beginning of this month. The conficker infecting the hermitage is mal/conficker-A; other names include Kido and downadup. So, there's all I know. If you're good with computers, then you may want to try do some bounty hunting. Just make sure it's before April 1st!

Personally I'm tempted to get the virus myself just so I can do this bounty hunting... it's alot of money and using some capabilities, sources and programs I possess it may just be possible. This virus releases information it acquires from computers to a "Boss" server and millions of dud sites around it however using the correct programs I can find out which one is the REAL site.

Ahem this isn't the objection thread...
Anyway it's using programs that track real websites and IP's to report back to you, this isn't basic programming mettking.

Interesting.... unfortunately, my programming abilities are 3rd rate. I could try my best to find it, but the possibilities of finding this guy in 2 days is very slim.
I also hope hyperlinking that site doesn't mess up this forum O.o.... see how unexperienced I am?
It interests me they can use a remote detonator on this virus, but it's really sick man! Horrible April fools by a horrible person who was either bullied as a kid, or came across a programming friend with his horrible idea to hurt others as A JOKE! *this insults me because people like this are the number 4/10 reasons I chose my goal of an attorney*

Well, seeing as the day has passed, I would call the rumor disproved. Therefore...
Lock.
