I was plain lucky or Kefka's Forsaken does ~2000 damage? That's the thing I should fear? There are two things that are left for me in FF VI, that is Soul Shrine and Omega Weapon. Though at the moment, I'm doing no-cheap run. (No Ultima, multi-hits [Genji Glove, Soul of Thamasa, Master's Scroll, Quick], Phantom Rush [Lvl 33 doing 9k damage? Overkill.] and 100+% evasion/magic evasion. +No overleveling and cheap tactics against the bosses [Phoenix down against Phantom Train, Confuse/Berserk against Ice Dragon and such])

The only difference is that a Mediator has more skills and is a bit better rounded than a Beast Master... lolgunz! But in the usefulness department, meh, they're pretty much the same. Mediators are just good for mass poaching to get the best items in the game from the fur shop. Not exactly. Beastmasters can't do a thing to affect Human--or in this case, Human, Moogle, Bangaa, Veira, or Nu Mou--characters. The most a Beastmaster can directly do to one of those with his own abilities is to hit them with a musical instrument for very sad damage. At least Mediators had other okay abilities besides Invite, like Threaten and Mimic Daravon(Brave down and Sleep, respectively). And besides guns, they also got knives, which is arguably more lethal than hitting someone with a pair of castanets. And just remember all the trouble you have to go to just to get the orbs for the Morpher. I've just always thought that it's more trouble than its worth.

That's probably true... But Mediators are also one of the weakest in terms of stats considering that the only use of Word Skills are to lower stats. But if paired with a Dancer, Bard, Mime, Calculator, Knight or Ninja or characters with semi-uber to uber spells/skills and/or an unbalanced stat set such as Reis, Cloud or Beowulf, it could be devastating.
Why Beowulf? Because you need to save as much MP as possible for you to use Chicken & Innocent.

Still, it's not like the Beastmaster was anything like an improvement to the Mediator, I was trying to say.

True... true... thus Beastmaster <= Mediator.

I was plain lucky or Kefka's Forsaken does ~2000 damage? That's the thing I should fear? Asking again. I've seen this somewhere doing ~6000 damage, thus I'm not sure.

~6000? I think that's overpowered. I went into the battle and he was able to pull off 2 The Forsakens on me and I survived each one with my characters at near-fatal HP. I think it did roughly 2500-4000. I can't really remember because I had Reraise active during the time and I immediately Cured with Curaga.

Could be me seeing things wrong. But whenever I see "Forsaken", they say it's devastating. >_<
By the way, just found and killed Deathgaze (On third encounter, that is) and won against that stupid Brachiosaur.

Devastating for those who have weak Magic Defenses. My basic Magic Def. was about 120 or something.
My Umaro took about 4000 damage cuz of the lack of Espers and semi-underlevel (LV27).

I beleive Forsaken is actually ''Goner'' from the SNES. Well, if you Solo Kefka, Havoc wing and Fallen one are far worse. Havoc wing, with low def is an automatic 9999 to one of your characters, and even with DECENT def, it will easily cause over 6k. Fallen one... well... reducing your whole team to 1 HP is one thing, but reducing your solo character's HP to 1 is very dangerous I'm concidering getting FFIII DS again, FFIII DS GET!

From today's fight : Hyperdrive - 3500 damage Havoc Wing - 2000-3500 damage (depending on a character) Forsaken/Goner - 600-900 damage. >_<
Honestly, the biggest problem was Trine and Heartless Angel. Though I played defensively, so that battle took 12 minutes.

I think you overlooked the uber-ness who is Strago. Once he learns Grand Trine from Hidon, White Wind from Dark Force, Step Mine from Tonberries, Forcefield from Doom & Clean Sweep from Enuo, he's more or less unstoppable if you equip him with a Hero Ring and Safety Bit or Heal Ring along with Force Shield, Behemoth Suit & Magus Rod.
Any magic damage done to him will be only at around 1000 at max and all basic elemental spells have a 50% chance of missing if you haven't nullified the element yet. Goner will also do only 1/2 damage and he can insta-heal equal to his current total amount of HP with White Wind. He can also deal about 4000-6000 worth of damage with Grand Trine (at lv 25-30) or Step Mine and if you're low on MP, you could use Clean Sweep while restoring his MP.

1. Grand Delta, it does ~5,500 damage at the moment. 2. I find White Wind unreliable. Use it just after Heartless angel=epic 1 HP heal. 3. Step Mine would need quite A LOT of steps to deal nice damage (At the moment, and I'm AFTER Kefka's tower, FARMING in desert) it does 1300 or something. 4. I was said that Party 1 meets Doom. However, they did not >_< 5. Clean Sweep? ... You mean Tsunami? Haven't tried yet.
And remember that the point of this one is not using anything which can be considered uber/cheap. Guess why am I not using Phantom Rush with Sabin? Could be the thing it does 9999 since lvl 28-30 or sth.
And I didn't bother with Mighty Guard. Miracle shoes have this permanently. ;p
Once again at White Wind - Curaga heals more and is independent on caster's HP.
