In the summertime or mid-spring, we are given the pleasure of seeing some epic flicks on the big screen. Which ones are good and bad?
Similar to Bard's Cartoons, anyone? topic, we're here to discuss movies, past, present, and future, if they're okay to watch, and why, or discussing movies in general.
NOTE: Abridged Moives do not count. The movies we are talking about have to be either on the big screen, on VHS or DVD, or both.

Alrighty...
The Forbidden Kingdom. When I first heard that martial arts & stunt expert, Jackie Chan was involved, I was psyched as ever to see him in action again. Especially after I didn't see Rush Hour 3. But then, Jet Li was in it and I started to have second thoughts especially after my mom said how bad an actor he was especially in Romeo Must Die.
Now, after seeing some trailers, I'm psyched again so now, I'm not sure if I should watch it on the big-screen or if I should just wait for the DVD.
Now, while the houses are still playing them, should I or shouldn't I watch it?

I'm fond of Happy Gilmore and Twister My two favourite movie. I usually don't like a movie for cute actress, the only exeption being Hatty Potter and the Ordre of the Phoenix. Luna Lovegood is very cute, and it's my favourite HP book too

Just TV movies in general. You might also call them "specials" in some cases, but they are still movies.

Oh, I'm watching Speed Racer whether it's good or not. I don't know about anyone else here, but my dad grew up on the cartoons and had me watch VHS copies of them when I was a wee lad. Nothing compares with the complete and total cheesiness of the rushed translation of the Speed Racer episodes. Names like:
Ace Deucey Skull Duggery Digger O' Bone and Splint Femur Baron Von Vandervon and his daugther, Yvonne Von Vandervon
Yes, and let's not forget precious dialogue like:
"Hey, stop! Stop or I'll stop you!" "It's the remote control that controls it remotely." "...escaped from the top-secret military base *building appears on TV screen* shown here..." "You're the most evil man I have ever seen! And you're wacky!"
Come on, you just can't not love it!

I'd love to watch that again.

I had to wait for every single episode on Cartoon Network. I practically grew up knowing Speed Racer as the 3rd anime I watched. And I just hope that the movie lives up to it, but adding a Mach 6? Just not my type. And what about the monkey? Chimp, was it? How're they gonna show them riding in the trunk like they did in the cartoon?

Apparently they got a real chimpanzee for Chim-Chim. And it's still the Mach 5 as far as I remember. The Wachowski brothers grew up on Speed Racer too, so I'd trust them(directors of The Matrix series) to not ruin what was Speed Racer. I have to say that I will be disappointed if nobody goes, "AAAAOOHHH!"

And it's still the Mach 5 as far as I remember. lol! I saw some merchandise from Mattel & Lego and a new model of car from the movie... The Mach 6! It seems that they'd kill off the Mach 5 mid-movie and replace it like most anime movies do.

I just saw Speed Racer today, and let me say the Wachowski brothers put in a little too much from their more famous franchise in the movie. The action and car stunts were too Matrix-y, but the racing itself was best described as a combo of Mario Kart Wii and F-Zero. Otherwise, it had some classic, yet subtle adaptations to the original cartoon.
It's good, but nowhere near as good as Iron Man, which I saw last week. Humor was just right, action was dominant, and romance was noticeable but not cheesy. It is truly the best movie of the year by far. My only regret is that I didn't get to see the extra part after the credits involving the Avengers.
