I've talked to kayorei about that. I'd like to host a new Challenge Taking tournament. The rules of the tournament would be very similar to last year's however, I decided to slightly change the voting rules to avoid as much flamme as possible. I want to avoid what happened last year. I don't think, however, that I could find a prize to the winner (appart maybe to ask Kayorei to change your title to ''Challenge Taking Champion 2009'' or something like that) Maybe a prize-less tournament would also avoid Flamme war. I will do anything in my abilities to host a better tournamane than last year!
By the way, how the tournament works is similar to last year. If the tournament is confirmed, you post your list of challengeable games, and special conditions.
And if the tournament is to be real, you won't have to wait 2 weeks (4 weeks if you're Bracket leader/Skip round) because I asked Kayorei (Who I asked to be judge) if we could do the whole thing (Send announce of who will fight who, let people post their video, let judges decide the winners) Within a week. You would have 5 days to post your videos (From Wendseday to Monday) then the judge will take tuesday to decide will I will restart a new round the next Wendseday.
If you are interrested, post here. If enough people are cool with the idea, We'll finish making the judge team, then I'll make announces on youtube, in order to attract other people here.
I'm doing this whole tournament purely to attract people, and kick this CTing stuff back on track!

Sounds fun...if it works. The single biggest problem is, and always will be, youtube user bias. Fix that one problem and I'm in as long as we finish by Augest 22, when I lose all reliable video making capability.

Man, I would love to join in, but I can't do challenge taking until I get my own laptop.

And who would be judges? YouTube users, just like last year, or people from this board who wouldn't participate? Latter seems to be better... Yet you need to find at least two people who are neutral to every participant. Which isn't as easy as it sounds...
Well, seeing as the last tournament was kind of a failure for me... With all that surrender thingy and such... I want to make a better performance this time!

No, this will be a bit like TV shows. Public may comment, but that's ALL. There will be 2 or 3 judges, depending on how Kayorei decides. She will be the first judge, she will choose someone who is NOT participating and that she can trust as the second, and if she feels there's a need for a third judge, I will be the judge. Other than that, the whole thing will be vastly similar to last year. The fact that YouTube people affected the score was one of the biggest flaw last year (Well, In my opinion).
Oh, and since I host this (And maybe will be a judge) You can obviously count me out for this, time (Although I will do like Kayorei, and do some challenges from time to time)
I wanted at least 7 people interrested in order to start this. and I already have 3! Keep going =D

Well, I don't know...I would offer to be the second judge, but I'm going to be really busy the next few weeks, with two scout camps and band camp...

.........Arashi.....do you really intend to attempt this again, even after all of the tension that was caused last time? Even with not all of it having been caused by the YouTube votes?
I am seriously doubting that this is a good idea...

First question: Do you have an idea of what the second judge is going to be now?
Second question: Are you REALLY sure that reviving the CTT is good for the CT scene, even without a prize or YT voters who may or may not be biased? After all, there's still the chance that someone may call "OMFG YOU STOLED MY RESTRICTIONS CHEEATER!!!!!!"...or people calling BS on how someone performed in relation to their restrictions...or people being generally biased as hell against each other because of what they said or did(Arashi's MSN convo in the Humor thread is a good example of this)...or challenge entries being late because of personal issues that came up at the wrong time...or a certain few people going "OMG THE STAFF/SOME OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE WENT UP AGAINST EACH OTHER THIS TOURNEY IS RIGGED AS HELL IM GONNA RAGE ABOUT IT ON MSN AND THE FORUMS BECAUSE I CAN AND NOTHINGS GONNA STOP ME!!!"...or everything in general. After all, if you really want to avoid the consequences of the CTT, then work on fixing the problems that plagued the first CTT that aren't biased YT voters or don't say anything on the subject. (Having this tournament being similar to the first in structure, and what you were saying about avoiding what happened in the first one, spells out 'contradictory' to me IMHO.)

Well without YT voters being biased as votes that eradicates alot of the problems from last year. In order to point out and overcome the flaws of last years tournamant is simple by just using neutral judges. Kayorei is probably the most neutral person I know. Plus Rashi may not be completely neutral however he isn't that biased compared to other people in these forums.

Of course... this whole ''OMG you stole my restrictions!'' I just had an idea: If two people uses the same Added difficulty restriction, how about they are canceled out? And OF COURSE there's no 100% avoiding flamme, and that's why I wanted specific judge, instead of the public being the judges. And I also suggested Kayorei that if someone (well a contestant) causes too much trouble (pretty much like me last year) I said we could warn/insta-eleminate them. With tha pressure of risking of being eleminated if they cause flamme-war, maybe this will further reduce the risk of flamme war.
As for neytrality, yeah, I do agree I was biased at the begining of the tournament. However, after 3-4 round, I only gave fair votings. (Christ I think I was the only one to give Megamanadvance higher scores than 1-2/5) But I swear, that I will not do the same mistake again this year, espcially since I willl be rooting for NO ONE, not even my ''friends'' who participate i this tournament (if any)
And Kayorei, you PMed me telling it migt be too early to start this thing. I shuold have said that in a clearer way: If enough people here are interrested, I'll make a video on youtube to say ''Hey there MAYBE a new CTT, join the forum if you are interrested'' THEN if enough people are in after that video. Then I will concider starting it. In other words, the ''recruitment'' pprobably won't start until a few days, the sing-up part of the tournament won't start until at least a week, and my guess is that the tournament itself won't start until 2 or 3 weeks

Well, some restrictions really are to be used by everyone, no matter what challenge would you give to them, like time limit, do not get hit, finish with x etc. They're quite popular, and somehow if two people come to think of same restrictions, they end with nothing at all? It may be hard to use something that your rival didn't... There's got to be some other option to avoid that... Maybe a hard "base" challenge?
Private Message'd... Yeah, right now it's so private that everyone can read it. Something's wrong here...

I just had an idea: If two people uses the same Added difficulty restriction, how about they are canceled out? See Shinji's post to get my impression on this. And OF COURSE there's no 100% avoiding flamme, and that's why I wanted specific judge, instead of the public being the judges. I believe you made that point before, in your first post, and I understand where you're coming from with this. And I also suggested Kayorei that if someone (well a contestant) causes too much trouble (pretty much like me last year) I said we could warn/insta-eleminate them. With tha pressure of risking of being eleminated if they cause flamme-war, maybe this will further reduce the risk of flamme war. Good. If enough people here are interrested, I'll make a video on youtube to say ''Hey there MAYBE a new CTT, join the forum if you are interrested'' ...what. So, basically, you're asking YT people to join the forums if they wanna join the tourney? That may not be such a good idea here, specially since that would bring in a lot of competitors, and...yeah. Oh yeah. You never did propose a solution to the 'challenge entries being late because of personal issues that came up at the wrong time', so... How about if one contestant sent his entry past the 5 day limit you're imposing, he has to give a solid reason why he couldn't do it earlier or some kind of punishment is given, like he gets eliminated or demoted in rank?
