I'm here strictly on business due to the lack of morning newspapers thrown at our gate every morning waking the family up by the door knocking noise...
If someone could please tell me some of the most current events (say within July to August) in form of synopsis or redirection to a news site... I require global events of good enough significance to have been considered as global news or at least details to the Attack of Russia, Hurricane Ike/Fay and this rumor of the L.H.C.
Any other news will also be much appreciated especially if they concern a (significant) festival of any sorts.
If you must know, this is for a quiz be set to happen within next week and I want to be at the utmost preparation... at least for the global current events.
Thanks in advance!

If by the L.H.C you mean the particle collider then that WASN'T a rumour. It was started up on Wednesday 2 days ago, and if anything went wrong (about 50 billion to 1) it would create a black hole above the Earth and therefore the end of the world. Anywho, it didn't cause the end of the world and according to Steven Hawking, the atmosphere's preassure would close it if it tried to suck up the Earth. (Quite ironic eh?) Ugh it's times like this I wish Kainmaster was still here, he lives where they are conducting the experiment if i'm not wrong. I'm sure he would tell us the info too.

3 times it's size, eh... thanks for that.
Now, if you could please expand on what the LHC is (satellite, particle generator, etc.) and what it was originally designed for, it would be much appreciated.
Also, if someone could please detail hurricane Fay for me as with wind speed, areas hit, damage total/death toll, etc. Thanks!

I will second L.H.C. on this one. Wikipedia has the status you want about Fay

I agree with Wiki, but you also might wanna check the Weather Channel or it's website if Wiki doesn't have all the details.

I guess I should explain a little more, the L.H.C is a massive machine over 25 Kilometres long, it was designed to collide 2 tiny atoms at the speed of light and hopefully recreate the big bang. I know nothing of why they wanted to recreate the big bang, except at the fact they wanted to answer the question of how the universe came to be.

Thanks Mollett...
And sorry, but due to Wikipedia's current illegitimate status for school research references I highly doubt that I could entertain a question by answering it with facts written in Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is, from my knowledge, THE least trusted knowledge database thus far since anybody who has an account can make wrong what are facts...
If no one can provide that info on Fay, then it's alright, thanks for the concern anyway... I still have, like, 5 days to prepare for this, so.......

Wikipedia is, from my knowledge, THE least trusted knowledge database thus far since anybody who has an account can make wrong what are facts... Maybe, but most of the scientific related article (Such as the L.H.C. and the Hurricanes) are mostly made by Scientists.

Why not just ask Fay directly about what it did?

Why not just ask Fay directly about what it did? Indeed. That'd remove you the hassle of internet searching
